Explosion of Love

That's how I've been feeling lately.  Like I'm going to explode with love everytime I see this little guy.  Even if he does wake up at 6am on the weekends (luckily he went back to sleep on Saturday til 8:30 after I gave him his pacifier).  His smile melts my heart.  Does it melt yours too?

Gets me every time.

As I told you earlier, Jude got baptised!  Yay!  It was a great day and I have a ton of pictures that I need to put up.  But I just had a quick break in between classes so I wanted to show you these.

You know, for a Monday, it's going pretty well.  Hope you feel the same.

Oh I forgot to add...I've been playing around on my new favorite website, picnik.com.  That'll explain the funky pics and judes written everywhere.  It's my latest obsession.  If you want to waste time and tweek a few pics, that site is calling your name.

diggin'

Do you love Adele as much as I do?  She's amazing and I'm totally diggin this cd.  It is my current fave pandora station and ipod choice.

In other news, it went from 90 degrees to 40 in like 2 days.  Which makes me frustrated for a few reasons.
1.) I love fall and need that in between weather.
2.) I have no idea where any of my cold weather clothes are...don't even get me started about Jude's.
3.) It seems wrong to use the ac and heat in the same week.
Are you with me Nebraskans?
Californians...shut it.

But if it's gonna be cold(er) I'm excited to start wearing these again

scarves and boots are some of my favorite cold weather items.

In other news, this weekend is gonna be pretty exciting for us.  Jude's getting baptized!  I can't wait to see him become a child of God in that cute little white outfit that his dad wore at almost exactly the same age. And speaking of that outfit, it's sort of summery. So Sunday, if you're listening, you better not be too cold.

Jude you're getting....

big! And I think it's really cute. And fun.  You have the greatest, laid-back personality I've ever seen in any baby....and I've seen lots of babies. You know what everyone says when they see you?  He's such a little man! He looks so mature.  Well, you're our mature little man.  And we couldn't love you any more!

You really want to crawl

My beautiful friend Marisa came to the big O to meet Jude.  She survived an earthquake and hurricane on the east coast to make the journey.

Lucky for her, there was no tornado in Nebraska when she was here.

First time in his exersauser.  Is that what you call it?  Either way, his cute little legs dangled and could barely reach the bottom.

There was so much to discover on this thing.

Toy overload!

First Nebraska game of the year.  Look at my big and lil huskers.  Yes, Jude has an entire Nebraska outfit, bib, shoe socks, pacifier and bottle.  We're set.

This just makes me laugh.  Look at those bug eyes.  Oh Judebug!

This is him 95% of the time lately...

so strong

Watching tv of course

3 Months

He was hungry during this series of pics, but I was determined to take them before he spit-up on his outfit.  Sorry Judebug, I'm a mean mom.

Ok, I get it, you're mad.

Yeah I know.

Got it. You're hungry.

Had to take one of the side part...that's our little man!

In all fairness, that photoshoot took like 5 minutes.  I was not starving my child for long.

So recently we put Jude in his real crib (for a nap...not all night).  He's been sleeping in a pack n play in our room since he was born, but since he seemed to nap really well in there, I'm thinking we're closer than we think to having him sleep in his real crib!  Part of me is kinda sad about that.  But I'm sure after the first full night of good sleep I'm sure I'll feel a little different.

There's a baby in there!

I could really get used to this

I have Wednesdays off this year since my new computer/library position was crammed into 4 days.  So what do I plan to do on Wednesdays?  Well, I thought I'd get so much done.  You know, like the laundry that's piled up, the dishes that just sit in the sink and the overall cleaning that's been totally neglected.  And then I remembered that I have much bigger and better priorities now.  So this is what I'm doing.....

Patting the little tush (can't say I've ever written that word so I have no idea if that's how you spell it) of my Judebug who can't seem to stay on his back today.  Every time I put him there, he rolls onto his tummy.  He's been moving his arms and legs like he's crawling and he's holding up his head like a big boy.  um, yikes.

Oh hey there baby love!

Being with you is the best way to spend the day.

And in the short time that I've posted, he's totally snoozin' on his tummy of course.  So I started reading my favorite mag.  I get excited when I get it in the mail each month.

So many great ideas in there.

Only thing that'll make this day better?  If that hubs gets off work at 2 like he's supposed to.  But we all know how that goes.....

New house

So I've been talking about my parent's move for a while now.  But I have to tell you a little background of this story because it's a good one.

Eight years ago when my parents decided to move back to Omaha from Pasadena, they knew they wanted to live in a specific area of the city.  However, there weren't any houses for sale that they were interested in.  So my mom did what anyone would do in that situation:  she wrote personal notes to about five strangers who lived in houses that she liked.  She told each of them how much she liked their house and if they would be interested in moving, she'd be interested in buying.  You'd do that too, wouldn't you?  Well, they all wrote back (Oh you Omahans.....such friendly people) and they all enjoyed the compliment, but weren't interested in selling their houses.

But one letter stood out from the rest.  It was from the owner of her favorite house.  He was an older man named Mr. Daugherty, who was kind enough to have his secretary write my mom back.  He explained that his wife had died and that he was planning on staying in the house until he died.  He was in his eighties.  He appreciated the letter my mom had sent and offered to let my mom come through the house when she was in Omaha.  My mom wrote back, and so began a series of letters.

In the meantime, my parents had moved from Pasadena and couldn't find a house to live in.  So they crashed in my grandparent's basement.......with a high schooler, an eighth grader, and 2 preschoolers.  Six people, crammed in a basement.  It was time for a house, and considering there were no homes available in Fairacres, they settled on one and tried to make it their own.  But there was still something missing:  charm.....and the feeling of home.

My mom took Mr. Daugherty up on his offer, and went through his house while he was still alive.  She immediately fell in love.  It might have been the fact that the kitchen/family room area had the exact same (discontinued) wallpaper that was in our Pasadena house, or just the fact that it felt like home, either way, it was an instant love connection.

Several years, and many letters later, and my mom heard the news this past November that Mr. Daugherty had passed away.  You'd think her first reaction would be excitement over the possibility of the house going on the market, but actually it was sadness.  After all, the two of them had become pen pals over the years.  But naturally, after the sadness subsided, the thoughts of the house flooded her mind.  And then the phone rang.

It was Mr. Daugherty's son.  He had heard that my mom was interested in his dad's house.  His dad had saved the letters!  How cute is that?  The son asked my mom if she was still interested in the house.  ha ha ha....still interested?  If driving by it every day means you're still interested then she was, in fact, still interested!  Long story short (as if this was short) my parents went through the house one more time and put in an offer that same night.  A few days later, their offer was accepted.  All under the radar of realtors, the house never went on the market (to the dismay of some other potential buyers, most of whom my mom knows).  And now begins the long process of moving, but the priceless process of finally feeling at home.

Have you ever heard such a romantic story about a house?  I bet not! So with all that build up, I bet you can't wait to see some pics.  Now don't get me wrong, this house needs a bit of work, but wow, it's gonna be gorgeous when it's done.  Without further delay:

Ok, I stole this one off another website because I forgot to get a picture of the front.  And if I were any of you, I'd totally need a picture of the front to visualize.
