Truck Show

Well folks, we've been getting around lately.  Last post we were at an air show.  This post, a truck show.  It really solidifies two things: 1) This was absolutely, hands down, Jude's favorite day in his history of days, and 2) St. Louis is, by far, the best city to live in when you have young kids.  There are always so many awesome, family-friendly, FREE events going on around town. Not to mention the zoo and all the museums are free as well.  I mean, seriously, you just can't beat it!  We are really loving it. (Total diamond in the rough down here, guys! I highly suggest you come visit us... hint hint)

Anyway, today was gorgeous and Jude was overwhelmed with excitement.  I'm going to let the pictures do the talking, but just so I can remember it, there was a time in the day when we took a tram (or for Jude's sake, a train) to our destination and Jude got to sit in the front with the driver and say "All aboard" on the microphone to all the passengers.  He was so overcome with pure joy, excitement and nervousness that all that came out at first was "ALLLLLLL" really loud.  And he just couldn't believe it and everyone laughed, because his face was priceless.  And then, when we all regrouped, he was able to get another try and he totally nailed it.  I think that ranked up there as one of his best times of his life, ever.

So without further ado, our day:

We ate lunch before heading to the trucks. By 'eat lunch' I mean Jude sat there too excited to eat, and Lucy only wanted to eat what was on Jude's tray, even though she had the same exact food on her tray.  And so it begins...

Not even kidding you, this is the pose I found him throwing down before I asked him to pose for a pic.

Then I asked for him to smile and I got this....

.....and this.

Lots of Americans (as Jude calls them)

"Yes, Jude, you can go climb on the truck" Translation "Yes, Jude, you just won the lottery!"

Made it!

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We went with this little cutie and his mom, Audrey.  Audrey and I are friends from high school!  I love that both of us somehow ended up in the Lou together!

Because then I get to see this cute face a lot!  Michael and Lucy are only 1 month apart in age, so naturally we are already planning the wedding.

Daddy couldn't miss this day.  He was on call overnight last night and only got 2 hours of sleep.  But how can you turn down a truck show, amiright?

As it turned out, Michael had the best time out of all of us.  This kid wanted to drive EVERY truck!

And this girl, well, she mostly sat in the stroller and ate.......and yelled really loudly when she saw a doggie.....or a baby.

But seriously, an old ice cream/lemonade truck? Amazing!

He talked the whole night about "remember when I touched the black wheel?" so I guess it ranked pretty high in unforgettable moments.

We did a lot of this:

I'm sure that if the trucks weren't there we'd be completely satisfied watching the mini train go round and round several times.  And let's not forget watching the railroad crossing bars....!!!

"I'm going to look at myself in the truck"

Bell-ringing was a highlight.

A teeny tiny fire jeep!

This jeep was Jude's favorite.

Lucy's highlight!

As we were leaving, Jude wanted to go back on the army truck one more time...

There are race cars in the museum!

Look what we found for Grandpa!  A '57 Chevy just like his!

And duh, how could we not stand by these all day?  We've had a full-on total obsession with railroad crossing bars for a few months now.

ding a ding a ding a ding a ding a ding.....

Climbing in a real choo choo.  Are you kidding me? This is everything he's ever dreamed of!

Ringing the bell!!

And last, but not least, one last pic with mama.  What a day!

So there you have it. A 2 year old boy's dream day.  We can't wait to go back!
