Better than pumpkin pie

So my mom makes this amazing dessert called better than pumpkin pie.  It's pretty much the greatest dessert ever and totally lives up to its name.  What's the point other than the fact that it's good?

Well, today I had several computer and library classes for the first time since Thanksgiving break.  Remember how I have all the students this year?  (The current 6th graders were my first class in 2nd grade.  Crazy, I know).

Anyway, I had the 5th grade for computers this morning, which was the class I had in 2nd and 3rd grade (yes, had them 2 years in a row!) and a student walks in and asks, "So, did you have some better than pumpkin pie this year?"  I hadn't talked about that dessert at school for, I don't know, I guess 2 years.  I turned to him and said, "YES! How did you know?"  Then he goes, "Well, it's your favorite, I remember you telling us about it in 3rd grade."  I was shocked.  How did he remember that?  I was so excited about this that I literally asked him, "How in the world did you remember that?"  He wasn't exactly sure......neither was I.  Everyone else sort of remembered and then someone asked, "So what's in better than pumpkin pie?"  To which the one student replied, "Pumpkin pie and vanilla cake batter!"  He was right!  I couldn't believe it!  So naturally I turned to him and said, "You've had it??"  He replied, "No, I just remember you telling us what's in it."  Couldn't believe it.  How cute is that?

Moral of the story:  They're listening, so make sure everything you say to a child is something you want them to remember.  Cause there is a good chance they might.

Laundry is fun!

Who knew folding clothes could be so much fun?

I had the day off today and let me just tell you, I sure can't wait to stay home everyday with this little guy!

(esp if laundry is always this fun!)

My life as I know it.....

......is changed forever.  We have a mover on our hands.

Ann Alton's comin' to town

(sang to the tune 'Santa Claus is comin to town' cause I'm a nerd like that and revert everything to song)

But yes, one of my favorites made a visit this past weekend to see us.  And I was really excited about it.  But apparently not as excited as this man:

Can you tell I'd been giving him some pep talks about her visit?  I told him about some of the finer things about Ann aka ddubs:
- driving a boat which was longer than my station wagon
- close-up?
- crisp!
- dat was ma foot, beep
- being the peanut to my butter
- north of the cities
- big g and lil g (aka not a member of peta)
- first one to go on the first floor
- fries at mcdonalds = too expensive (with someone who was uninvited in the backseat)
- sleep in day ruined due to jacqueline's rap alarm clock
- not amused with a 2am wake-up from roommates "guys, this is like me coming into your room and jumping on your bed at 8am"
- did i ever use your printer?

Ok the list could go on.  We had quite the year living together on 37th and Leav (I know, I'm surprised we survived, too).  Thanks for taking time out of your weekend and seeing us.  Not to mention, I just can't get enough of you mom.  Tell her to run for president!

Until next time!

Thanksgiving

Do you like how I'm on a roll tonight? This is what happens when I'm not able to blog for several days. Not to mention during a super busy time of the year.

Speaking of that, I'd just like to tell you that we've eaten 3 huge Thanksgiving dinners in 3 days. So much for losing the baby weight! The first Thanksgiving was at our house. We had our parents and siblings over for a pre-Thanksgiving on Wednesday because Chris had to work on Thanksgiving day. You'd be surprised...I cooked. a lot. and people were able to eat it. and like it. yeah, who knew? That right there, my friends, is the first bird Chris and I tackled. not too shabby.

Not surprisingly, we were all decorated for Christmas by the time we had people over.  Just the way I like it!
I'm annoyed by that JCPenny bag in the corner....it's been sitting there for um...I don't know, 3 months.  It's clothes that need to go to the goodwill.  Maybe one day I'll make it there.  Wanna know what's sad?  My goal isn't even to get it to the goodwill.  Nope, I go step by step people.  My goal is to get that sucker in my car.  You can see how well I've done with that.

We used my grandma's Christmas china.  She would've loved it!

Have I told you that I have a collection(obsession) with napkin rings?  Well, I do.  Can I tell you how excited I was to actually use them? Incredibly.

And now for something that'll make you smile......

......how cute are auntie lala and judebug?  To die for, right?
(minus his redeye....apparently editing would've been too much work)

So we had a great time at our house.  We missed Matt and Jen and Jen and Joey.  I tell ya....those married folk, always busy.  Next time guys!  There's still china and napkin rings that need to be used!

Round 2

Thanksgiving Round 2 was over at my Uncle Mike's and Aunt Ann's house.  Delish as ever, but I was so excited to see my cousin's new baby, Leah.  Our family has been blessed with 3 new babies this year.  I couldn't wait for this moment:

L to R: My cousin Evan's daughter, Lux,  Emily with Jude,  My cousin Ashley's baby, Macy, and my cousin Paul's baby, Leah.

And they're done.

Emily snapped a couple great shots of Jude that same night.

This is his new look....biting his lower lip.

And here are some of her with Jude!

And then there's us.  You know, it's true what they say about moms (me at least).  I didn't even know I looked like this.  I must not have done my hair and/or makeup.  I was too worried about making sure I packed enough diapers, the formula, bottles, etc.  welcome to the world of not caring how you look!

Round 3

So you think we're done with Thanksgiving?  Not quite.  Round 3 was at my parent's house.  And my grandparents got to see Jude!

Gramps thinks Jude's 'solid as a rock.'  and now I can't get the commercial "like a rock" song out of my head.

And of course auntie lala had to get her jude fix.  Poor thing only has Leo up in the big MN to keep her company.

Speaking of Leo (disclaimer: I in no way, shape or form like this cat)......

But I do like this little guy whose little ways are as sneaky as a cat these days......

Um, hello, assume crawling position NOW:

These were the hosts of Thanksgiving round 3.

And last, but certainly not least, in the spirit of turkey day, we found in only right to let our little love see what all the fuss was about.  Can't say he liked it.

Gobble, Gobble!

Peek-a-boo

Jude in action, just cause.

5 months

Whoops.  Let's catch up with the little man.
5 months

It's getting harder and harder to take these pics because we now have a squirmer on our hands.  And he's starting to crawl.  I know right.  I have video to prove it!

Fall leaves

Actually fall's way gone at our house by now.  I just had a mini crisis with not being able to upload my pics the past few days.  All is well now.  This is mostly a post for me so I can remember how our mantle looked during fall.  Weird to think it was the last one at this house.  sad!

adios fall.

I'm in love with a ......

bullet!

Homemade baby food couldn't get any easier.  This is by far the most useful and cutest thing we've bought in a while.  My convincing paid off......even the hubs digs this.  What does Judebug think?  Well, he loves him some sweet potaters!

Baby in a basket!

That is all.

Monkey doctor

Happy Halloween!

Dr. Daddy and Dr. Jude

And when it got colder, our little doc turned into a monkey!

Thank you to Caitlin's mom, Susie, for getting Jude these adorable baby MD scrubs.  He was the star of our neighborhood block party that we hosted in our driveway this year.  By hosted I mean we did absolutely nothing but hang out in our driveway.  Don and Susie (yes another Susie!), our awesome neighbors who we share our driveway with, did most of the work.  We have so many great people on our block.  We're really going to miss everyone when we move.  Needless to say, it was a great first Halloween for our Judebug!
