Six Two Six

Ok, so it's a day late, but yesterday was our one year wedding anniversary.  I know everyone says the years go by fast, but wow, that one really flew by!  We spent most of the day reminiscing about what we were doing last year on our wedding day......and thinking about how so much has changed since then.

So what did we do to celebrate?  Besides snuggling with our 3 week old love, we headed to dinner at Nicola's in the old market.  Best lasagna ever.  But despite how good the food was, we didn't make a night of it.  We headed home right away.  It felt wrong to be away from our Jude bug. I checked my phone a million times just to look at his picture.  How quickly our lives can change!

us at dinner

We also ate some of our wedding cake.  It was just as good as it was last year and the taste brought back so many memories.

They actually made us a whole new anniversary cake to freeze.  De-lish.

designed just like the real wedding cake

and boy was it to die for!

Here's to many more years!

2 weeks and Father's Day

Jude turned 2 weeks old on Saturday and he spent it hanging out with some visitors and even made it to a cousin's wedding reception.  He didn't know what to do with himself considering the fact that he's been cooped up in the house (and doctors office) all day.  I didn't know what to do with myself either.  You would've thought I'd never been out in public before in my life.  We survived though, and after that big first adventure, I'm feeling much more confident about taking Jude out of the house.  Had to happen sometime, and I'm glad it happened sooner rather than later.  We even made it to both Grandpa's houses for Father's Day!

Leslie came to meet Jude and brought him the cutest baseball outfit and sunglasses.  I can't wait for him to wear his shades.  Thanks Les!

Not to mention how much Jude loved you.  You had the magic touch!

Roommates!  Emily and I that is.  Emily, her husband Jordan, and their adorable 4 month old Jack came to hang out for a while on their way back to Iowa.  Look at us with our boys........so much has changed since sophomore year of college.

Jude wasn't sure about our excursion at first.

but toughed it out.  Whatta boy!

Ok I can't get enough of this outfit, especially those sock shoes.  Obsessed!

Chris's Aunt Karen was in town for the wedding and got to hang out with Jude on Father's Day.

Aunt Jen aka Aunt Jennifer aka AJ with Jude.  We still have to figure out all the aunt Jens.  So far, Jude has 3 of them.  Yes, all of my sister in laws are named Jennifer.  What are the odds?!

Look at that little guy.  Happy Father's Day Christopher!

Happy Father's Day to my dad!

Grandma and Grandpa

Oh hey guys

Yes, we do have the same dress.  No, neither of us got it in Omaha since Omaha doesn't even have the store.  Funny.

Uncle T and Uncle Alex

hahaha I love this pic

Grandpa did you already teach him the punch dance?

Good morning Daddy!

I just can't get enough!

Because I'm Up

On Saturday Jude will be 2 weeks old.  We've been learning a lot about each other over that time and it's cute when I catch myself or the hubs say something like "Oh, that's not like our Jude bug" or "He's probably hungry, that's his hungry cry".  I love that we think we know so much about him already.  For the first few nights I couldn't remember what he looked like and would have to glance over to see him to be reminded.  Now I can't get his beautiful face outta my mind.  Motherhood sure is amazing.

But it's also a full time job.  Wow, super exhausting.  I'll just lay it on the line, I had my first (of probably many) emotional breakdowns yesterday.  I just couldn't grasp the fact that my life has been consumed by feeding, pumping, feeding, changing, repeat.  I think I just needed a good cry.  So I did.  And in the end, I felt much better.  I mean with any life change there comes some emotion.  This one, mixed with some hormones = at least some crying, right?  But then I look at Jude and realize it's all worth it.

Needless to say, the love I have for this child exceeds any words in our english language.  I don't just love him, I look at him and see love.  Jude is what love looks like ...... and it's incredible.  Everyone always said you would never believe you could love so unconditionally.  Now I'm starting to understand.

So what have we been up to other than our crazy schedule?

Well, Aunt Jenny and Nana Hasiak stopped by and made us dinner, which was great because to be honest with you, we probably would've starved without it.

Aunt Jenny!

I realized I didn't have a lot of pics with Jude, so I took this self shot.  And then I quickly remembered why I didn't have many pics with him .... can't wait til I start caring about my appearance again!

Jude loves hanging out in his boppy pillow

Such a little man

Another day, another boppy pillow hanging outage.

We went on our first walk to the doctors today.  Good thing it's not that far away.  Jude loved his stroller and fell asleep right after this pic.

Walking home from his appointment.  We were hoping for a weight gain, and we got one!  Jude gained 3oz in 2 days which means our feeding is going much better.  Thank God!  We love our doctor, but we were seeing her way too often.

Aunt Lauren aka Auntie La La came over to hang out ...

.... and this seemed to happen.

My Uncle Tim and Aunt Genise were even in town from KC and popped by to meet Jude bug.

And here we are....the happy little family.  Which makes me realize, we don't have many (if any) family shots other than this one.  I better get on the ball with that...

And now.....some sleep.....until the next feeding.

Meeting GG

Jude's been a busy bee in his first 9 days .... you know, eating, pooping, sleeping, and meeting people.  We've been busy too .... you know, feeding, changing, sort of sleeping and taking Jude to meet people.  We were so happy to go hang out with Great Grandma Helen on Saturday.  Jude is her 2nd great grandchild and she was beyond excited to meet him.

Grandpa Hasiak wanted a little Jude bug action in his life, too.

Seriously, I can't get over this bouncer.  Look at those ears!  And while you're looking, take a look at that baby....and those toesies!  Ahhh, so much love going on in this pic.

Snug as a Jude bug in a rug

..... and tiring apparently.

Today I'm finally starting to feel a little bit back to normal.  The pain isn't as bad as before and I'm feeling more active.  I don't know where I'm getting my energy.  I'm up at all hours of the night feeding Jude.  Don't get me wrong, Jude is the best baby in all the world!  He could sleep through the night if I let him, something we're going to miss in a few weeks I'm sure.  For now, I need to get him up every 2 hours and feed him.  Do you know how hard it is to wake up a sleeping baby?  Especially one who is not so interested in eating.  They tell me to strip his clothes off and make him cold.  They tell me to put a cold washcloth on his forehead.  They tell me to tickle him constantly.  Yep, tried 'em all and still the little guy continues to sleep.  Unfortunately, he's losing weight, so we're doing everything we can to beef him up.  It's exhausting trying to plump up a 6lb boy!

Breastfeeding is something I really want to work out.  Trust me, I'm not giving up without a fight.  Jude just doesn't seem to have the hang of it yet.  Or maybe I don't have the hang of it yet.  At this point we might need to suppliment some formula until he gains his weight back.  Any moms out there have breastfeeding issues?  Or advice?  Did you suppliment and breastfeed?  Pump? We just spent our life savings on a Medela pump.  Wow, those things are insanely expensive.  I will probably cry if that doesn't work out.  Hey moms out there, what were your experiences?

Everyone Loves a Cake Pop

I should've guessed when Caitlin said to watch out for a package (that was edible) that it would be cake pops.  Her and Jonny made them famous at their wedding this March.  They are so good.  No, really, I mean to. die. for. good.  Thanks Cait,Jonny, Susie and Kenny for sending these our way.  Adorable and delicious?  Yes, please!

And Auddi sent this cute handmade card.  I love handmade cards!  This one is totally going in his baby book.  We love you Auddi and Matt!

Jude took his second bath the other night.  The first bath at home with Mommy and Daddy.  He didn't seem to mind it.  It was probably because of the turtle towel, dontcha think?

And all cozy after the bath...

More random shots....
